Whether you use Instagram as an individual or as a business, you start by creating a profile. Creating a free business profile gives you access to additional insights and features.

Personal profiles

People with standard profiles can share photos or videos privately or publicly, create Instagram stories, comment on other people’s posts and send personal or group messages.

Business profiles

When you designate your profile as a business profile, you get additional tools, like insights about followers and posts. For example, you can check in on your posts to see how many people you reached. As a business, you’re also able to promote posts to reach people outside your immediate followers and you can tailor your promotion to drive various business objectives.

Business profiles can list information like the business address or contact info.

3 ways to share and connect

Use Instagram to share pictures and videos that are relevant to your brand. That usually attracts followers that are interested in what your business is about. You have a few ways to do it.


The Instagram feed is where you can share and follow the people and things you care about. When you open Instagram or refresh your feed, the photos and videos from your followers will surface
